Ipad or Android tablet?

Apperance of a typical Ipad Screen
Tablets are becoming a must for people in all ages. More and more people have discovered the tablet's many advantages compared to a laptop. It is small, ligth and easy to handle. Further, it is nice to handle sitting in the sofa, for reading purposes, waching a video, viewing av family photo album or to hear the lastes news on the webradio. It has a number of apps (small program that fits different needs) and can be used both for work, play and entertainment.

There are about a milliona apps that may be installed - that covers the most incredible needs. It may be widgets for photos, video, newspaper and magazine, E-mail, Facebook, library, file sharing, taking notes and the like.

Some apps are standard, while the other one has to retrieve online from one of the online stores. Many of the widgets offered are free of charge, while others will cost from $ 1 and up. In many cases you may choose a free version with advertising or a small payment to avoid adds.

To put a tablet in a nutshell: Is a bit like a toolbox - it must be equiped with tools that fits your needs - depending on what you plan to use it for. Still, you get part of the way with the enclosed apps.

The picture on the upper rigth shows a screenshot of a Ipad 3 tablet. As you can see the startscreen is filled with different widgets (or tools). A slide of my finger to the rigth, you would see more widgets. I think that I regulary use 10-15 widgets each week.

Android tablets

The picture on the left shows a typical screenshot of a tablet with Android. There are fewer apps in the current screen, but as we see the interfce is pretty much the same. Apps on the current screen is a web browser that you use to surf the web. The other two are games used for entertainment.

For the Android tablet, I paid only $ 80, while the tablet device from Apple cost me over $ 400. Not surprisingly, the tablet from Apple preform better in every aspect - but the competition is not quite fair?

The small tablet 7 " provides a significantly smaller screen. Despite the differences, I think that little tablet performs surprisingly well., Starting immediately, lightweight, has good battery life, a good screen and preforms quite well. Yet, it is very sensitive on the connection to the wireless networks.

The two (three) families

Tablets comes in two main categories: IOS and Android. These little cryptic terms describing what the main program or operating system is called the tablet. When it comes to IOS, this is the operating system on all IPAD from Apple. Android is pretty much on any other tablet , from several hundred other manufacturers. Andriod is developed by another giant in the computer world : Google Inc.

The two families live on their own planets . Applets for IOS can not be used on Android and vice versa. One can still transfer content, such as things you 've written, from one system to the other . Furthermore, a number of applets bridges the gap between these systems. For example, the communication system " Skype ".

When buying tablets make you the choice of which "planet to live on ." You can not move unless you buy a new tablet .

The number " three " is in brackets in the heading , should also be mentioned: Windows operating system . We will not include any further comments on windows tablets.

Price

Briefly, the price situation as follows: All the products from Apple are expensive, while in the Android family has large variations. While the former is in the price range from $ 400-700, -, are the products based on Android from $ 70 and up. It also implies that there can be big differences in quality. Ultimately, the question is how much one is willing to pay for the product.

What is your use of the tablet?

Tipically use: Surfing on web
You should have thought through what you are going to use your tablet for. The more tasks , the more money you may be willing to spend. Mostly you will be able to do the same on all portable tablets but version of operating system , screen quality , responsiveness of the touch screen and speed are examples of what you pay extra for. On Apple 's products however are mostly the same quality - they are solid and good - but costs accordingly. Apple 'stock' both the actual tablet operating systems and online store where you buy your widget . It gives you complete control over your device - after that it is actually yours . Before the widget is released into the " Apple Store" is the test and approved.

When new versions of the IPAD , Apple adjusts the price of the old ones. However, you should think carefully before you buy an older version . Apple stops namely the upgrade of older IOS for a while and tablet beginning to be discarded . You will find that new applets will not run on your tablet. Even if it costs a little extra is a good general rule to buy the latest edition . The price difference of approx . 20 % does not justify buying an older model. Currently there is " IPAD Air " which is the last model.

When it comes to tablet that runs on Android so it is harder to come by simple advice . It should be noted both in terms of the electronics inside the tablet and operating system. In short , you get that you pay. It does not mean that you will be dissatisfied with a tablet to 1.000 million . It may be sufficient for your use. A good advice is to buy one of the latest models of Samsung Google Nexus or ASUS . This would provide stable and good quality .
